That's a good list of providers for our reference. However, it will be more useful for us consumers if there is some sort of rating and review section where the various listed hosts are rated according to many factors and attached with user reviews. Something like http://www.thehostingchart.com where we can immediately and clearly see how each provider fares and make a quick decision instead of posting threads to ask for opinions for each provider. Very slow and leceh.

IMO, the problem with such sites is that their impartiality starts to get questionable - there are enough sites awarding dubious hosts with top web host awards, usually linked to their advertising budget. And do you trust reviews written by random people?

I understand that. Unless there is such a checking feature.

- hosting companies must pay to be listed as a genuine provider. To qualify, they must submit documents to the admin to proof their status.

- Well known or trusted 3rd party reviewer sites (or persons) are paid by this forum to actively review and rate providers. like auditors. Their ratings and reviews are most valued.

- Users who pay a cheap amount to become authentic users. meaning they must proof that they don exist as another user account here or they dont belong to the provider companies. Guess maybe those users with company (not of those hosting provider) email addresses belong to this group. Very hard to hold multiple company email accounts. Like that maybe totally free also can. Their ratings and reviews are of 2nd rated value.

- General free users who have email address from free email services like hotmail or did not pay to subscribe to be authentic users can rate too. just that their rating/reviews are the least valued.

- So 3 types of rating and reviews. Trusted reviewer, Authentic users, public.

Not sure if this is practical. It depends on the cost and what each group of pple can get out of it.

- Auditor sites/persons get paid. So no problem.
- Authentic users (if paying) might get some features like free advertisement space or some goodies.
- general public gets more objective and genuine reviews.
- Authenticity and reliability of this forum site increases and traffic (and thus income) grows....

Hows that?

Anyway, its the same situation even with this thread posting system. U will never know if some users' comments/postings can be trusted or not. So, since both thread and rating/review systems lacks accountability unless certain checks are enforced, why not implement the rating/review system. It makes the life of users much easier instead of jumping from thread to thread to search for comments about a company. Of course that would mean more work for the admin. So, it depends on how much effort the owner of this site is willing to put.

anyway, just some ideas.....
