Generally all hosting provider put their servers behind Hardware Firewall to avoid DDOS attacks. If you opt for a Dedicated server, its recommended to opt for a Hardware Firewall if you wish to secure your server against DDOS.

For DDOS protection most data centers use some individual tools. Buy hardware for that is expensive and everything depend on DDOS power/packets.

One of way, have big network for example 1Gbps, 10Gbps or more.
