SoftLayer opens datacenter in Singapore

SoftLayer Technologies is establishing its presence in the Asia Pacific with the opening of a new datacenter in Singapore together with network Points of Presence (PoPs) in Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. The facilities are slated to go "live" on 3 October 2011.

Will it trigger a price drop for singapore dedicated servers from existing provider?

SL's price is quite competitive, especially on the bandwidth. (They charge 20 USD more for SG server though).

My suggestion is our local datacenter shall drop their colo fees.

I didn't see any particular movements due to Softlayer entry, anyone tried them? How's the performance? And also do they offer racks or just pure dedicated hosting?

Their connectivity is not local.
Even servers in the US ping better than theirs located in Singapore.
