Hey,
Optimize the server or optimize the sql queries ? If for the server, there is one application called mysql tuner. More info here: http://www.zdnetasia.com/techguide/o...2048294,00.htm That will do for the server. For queries, there are many things. You need to check if you are doing the correct indexing or using the right columns etc.

You could use https://launchpad.net/mysql-tuning-primer to optimize SQL. Hope this has helped.
