How many of you have a .per.sg domain?

Mine is www.sanguo.per.sg which I registered in May 2000 which cost around SGD 88 per year.

aaron.per.sg is BARREN. I never had the time to actually sit down and start doing some learning and design.

Do you guys feel that per.sg is somehow redundant now that anyone can book a .sg domain ?

Wow, someone sure dug up an old thread.

Yup, I agree. With almost unrestricted access to 2nd Level .sg domains, per.sg is probably gathering dust. Unfortunately, I renewed for another 2 years before that. :curse:

I guess .sg is more appealing to consumers.

However, there's still a 60% price difference.

Generally, .PER.SG costs ~S$25.00, and .SG costs S$45.00(if i'm not mistaken.)

So for people who are restricted by budget, or they just want to have something with .SG yet don't want to spend too much, .PER.SG could be the choice.

Other than that, it seems that there's no other factor except price, in drawing the demand for .PER.SG domain.

Really,,, i don't think so, maybe there's some difference in the technical term.. (.sg), (.per.sg) ..

.SG has a general meaning, while .PER.SG is meant for personal websites.

Usage is all the same, there shouldn't be any discrepancies or differences in terms of technical, yes, the term is different but technically there isn't.

I suppose .PER.SG came prior to the launch for .SG domains. Initially there were only third level .SG domains like .com.sg/.net.sg/.org.sg, and these are opened to companies, IDA registered NSP, and organisations respectively. Shortly, .PER.SG was launched to target personal user, thus at more affordable rate.

Now we see that even corporate websites are moving from .com.sg to .sg, perhaps just because it's fresh or shorter(maybe because of the promotion? :D). Well, having a higher price during the just-in-time should command a long-term monopoly and control the demand and supply.

Think it's always better to have a short name rather than a long one. With so many websites around nowadays, ppl's memory tend to be rather short. My opinion is that .sg is a better buy despite the higher price. Of course, if you are purely using it as a personal site, then cheaper the better.

cos with the new domain .sg, i think .per.sg no longer had its appeal. Furthermore .sg cost the same if not slightly more then .per.sg
