Well SingTel and StarHub are 2 major players in Singapore providing a data centre and their own bandwidth. StarHub does not capped the maximum speed. Starhub has a lot of local bandwidth and it is cheaper than SingTel. About the prices, you have to email them to get a lastest quote.

you want to know just call starhub hotline and ask
they also dont know where is the data centre too
i Ask before they simply dont know what is colocation.

Well, if you go through us, we offer a better rate at colocation rather than colocating directly to QALA direct.

If you wish to know, Singtel is having a promotion right now. It seems cheaper than StarHub.

Do contact me by email and we will work out something. You will get like individual racks but this is to like have a better pricing due to higher demand.

if i'm not wrong, 1U@QALA is $100 per month. that is if u approach them directly rather than resellers. 1U@Starhub is around 150 to 200 per month. =)
10U@Singtel is around 600 to 700 per month.

so much price difference.

A full rack at QALA is $980 if you go directly but if you go through a reseller but sitll have contact with qala directly, you may get a range of maybe 900 / 800??

Well, if you approach FirstColo, 2U@88 per month is quite a wise choice.

i must agreed that firstcolo 2U@88 is pretty reasonable BUT customer service and support wise i do not know.... how do you ensure your colocation clients' servers have the maximum uptime and bandwidth. i mean top notch at all times. and if it happen to go down, how will firstcolo solve it? call up the client? reboot for client? or something else? i'm more worry about the backend support.

web_rookie -> I think your concerns are justified. Everyone should think about this when choosing a provider - not only for colocation but even for web hosting.

Looking at the industry in Singapore - its so small - yet there are so many web hosts. providers of colocations, providers of dedicated etc ... what is important <like I have mentioned a thousand times on the forum already> should not be the extra few dollars - but the fact that each provider must be able to assure the customer a certain level of service.

I would rather spend 10-20% more on something - knowing that I'm well-taken care of ... rather than living in fear. not knowing if tomorrow will be the die that all my servcies goes "kaput" ...

Back to the topic - S$88 for a 2U colocation is certainly very very affordable and very well priced. But remember rack space is only 1 aspect of colocation - please remember to look into areas such as bandwidth, visitage hours as well.

Then again ... S$88 is really really affordable.

1 of the factors is time and service. I agree with royong. Much more things needs to be consider.

At the end of the day, if your SERVICE = so critical that it must be up at all time. All I can say is this

1) Load balance and distributed service.

sure it will mean redundancy, and a whole load more work, customization, cost and what not. But if your SERVICE = CRITICAL, you have to pay :P

Life is such. I hear there are discounts on Cisco LocalDirector, as for the price.. it's not pretty even with those discounts in this weak economy :P
