View Full Version : What would you do?
What would you do if a customer whom owes you 2 months of hosting fees, comes back to signup for another hosting account a few months later.
Do you accept the new signup?
If you do, do you charge an additional 2 months since he owes you the 2 months of hosting fees.
Or you "waive" the money owed to you and "treats" him like a new customer as in only charging him the new account's fees.

the amount due on the account is still due whether he signs up for a new plan or not.
having said that, there are enough fish in the ocean that I wouldn't angle for the ones that bite back.

I will accept the new signup once his outstanding bill has been cleared.
our local teleco companies work in the same way too..

Wise choice of words… Then again, the fishes that bite back might end up on my lunch’s plate.
You shouldnt have mentioned fishes there in your post salmonella. Now I'm hungry. :D

Could use the above as a reference when the user does not want to pay up the monies owed.
I have asked for the owed amount including the new account’s fees. Currently waiting for his reply.
Dear User
Please be informed that the total payment is $$. This is inclusive of the monies owed in your last account with us.
Unless the arrears are paid, we will not be able to host your site with us…….
Thank You

From WordNet (r) 2.0 :
salmonella
n : rod-shaped gram-negative enterobacteria; cause typhoid fever
and food poisoning; can be used as a bioweapon
Still hungry? :D

Just add the outstanding amount to his signup bill.
I would have to agree with pingcrisis.
Salmon in the salmonella sounds delicious.

Wish I could say the same for salmonella though.

You should study the attitude of the customer and should ask him to pay the dues first, if he clear the due amount, you should sign up him as a new customer with formal warning.

I do agree that you have to inform the client about the outstanding bill. However, I am not very agreed to adding both sum together. Each new sign-up is a new deal. However, each sign-up can be approved/rejected according to their past payment records.
A new sign-up is not like renewal 'cause each new sign-up is like the signing of a new contract which should be different from the previous.
My view
i will ask my customer to clear the outstanding amount before he proceed to sign up.
he could always use another name to sign up, you might not know.
Anyway, for us, the moment the hosting fee is 2 weeks overdue, their account will be suspended and cancelled. Unless they request for extension providing reason.
