hi let say my hosting service dont have any price freeze guarantee, and i would like to rise the fee.

So what are the excuses or methods that i can use to tell my clients that there will be a rise in fee?

PS: all these topics are base on the assumption i stated, so lets stick to the assumption and no need to comment about it. thanks

Offer better features such as daily backup solution if not included in the initial package?
Offer a control panel which is not included in the initial package?

My suggestion is to not rise for your current customers until they renew. But of course if you charge monthly, be prepared to lose customers if you rise your fees cause some customers go for best price.

Ya, that's why i'm looking for execuses to get more money from them, something like get more from them and may be offer more to them without costing me more.....

anything? this seems like unreasonable, but please squeeze more brain juice, yummy

Dear fred,

You can mentioned that you are increasing your price due to:

Providing better and quality services, increasing of employees to provide faster response and technical help to the customer. Implementing of new free features or plans for your customer ... etc.

Well, there are plenty of reasons you can use. Main concern you should have is "knowing that your customers will leave if you hike prices".

yup agree, but in some situation you have to do this. For example after awhile you realise that your profit is not worth the effort(because of cheap hosting plans), so far this i am still not able to give any valid excuses. Unless i'm getting a better Control Panel, implementing better support ticket system, etc.

Yes, the consequenses is going to be big, but wat if someone really need it ?? As long as you didnt lose the original profit and it didnt make your name bad......

Well, seriously there ARE a few steps you can follow before you implement the price hikes.

1. Find out what kind of customers you're dealing with.
People who go for price? People who go for service? People who go for features? Make a graph or something to give yourself a better picture.

2. Based on the result, take the largest block and ask yourself if you can improve on that.
For people who are picky about price, you can simply just offer them better price (somewhere between new and old price) if they pay for 12 months at one go. This creates extra cash on your side that is useful. Ready cash is always good.
For service, offering a 24hrs telephone support for "Webhosting related" problems would be a very nice offer if you asked me.
For features, you need to offer more USEFUL value added services to your customers, stuff which you can include for nothing or for a small amount, less than the amount that you're going to hike.

3. Be prepared to "fall back" to slightly better pricing if your customer wants to leave. This will be ur FINAL chance to make him stay. :)

4. If he leaves, oh well, good luck to you. :p

1. Nope, malaysian. Should be able to judge from my poor english and grammer hehe. Working in SG now.

2. I just registered one, www.qoolhost.com

3. I havent got any, but talking to voxtreme's guys for quite some times already, will go with them for my start

eee... did my questions makes you think that i'm a very experienced web host guys with lots of customers ?? hehe...i just want to create some discussion and ideas, that's all.

well, just some updates about my hosting site. Still doing the website, looking into the CC processor for example hostcharge, and properly want to get a phpmanager... need SSL also.... havent got a domain name reseller account.... so many things havent done yet, still getting those knowledge bit by bit.

As soon as my site is finished, will start the business and get payment via check, paypal or bank transfer first lor... Well, actually i wouldnt want to start so fast, but i have to help 2 of my friends to manage their websites..... TWO only, abit costly for me to use voxtreme, but i wish to spend more time on other stuff rather than keep asking my provider why their site down, why the connection so slow.....

Need alot of effort and some money, but it worth :)

Abit off topic :D

Haha.

Well, since he hasn't even started yet, best to price where you can go lower but not higher. Makes customer relationships much better.
