Dennis, thanks for your reply. I'm looking at local servers.

Indeed, I've looked at DedicatedAsia; good prices, but they're very new at hosting, and the fact that their website/server has been inaccessible for about 12hrs now (maybe more) doesn't give me much confidence. Their Suntec address looks good, but I think it's really just one of those virtual/shared offices :(

I'm also considering ev1 servers though they're overseas, but I like the fact that they're reputable and affordable. I'm kinda disappointed with the local offerings; the more reputed ones are just too costly...

Cut cost? Hmm, are you looking at local dedicated servers or colocation?

i am moving back to singapore (colocation) , currently using ev1servers.net (dedicated server)

cos i calculate, every month pay dat amount to ev1servers.net... my profit will be thinner and the server i will never get to touch or owned it.

but now, i ordered my own server (yes its MINE! haha) and colocate it (cheaper to colocate then pay monthly for dedicated server) ... all i need is to break even the cost for the server i ordered... then after dat is profit (any amount the surplus I earned from what i pay for colocation)

True, but then you're also responsible for the hardware, which can be a good or bad thing I guess. At least you know quality parts are used and your server is still there should the provider go out of business.

Always the pros and cons...
