Hi there,
FYI, Hivemail is not free. Anyways, I have not come across with any free web based email like Hotmail. As for paid solution, Hivemail is still the best.
Thanks.

Do you mean signup + autoactivation where the user pay absolutely nothing or do you want a email interface like hivemail ?
I mean the user can get free email when the user register from us :)
any free scripts around??:(
I'm looking for a free script :)
Try http://www.b1g.net/produkte/b1gmail/ , but at the moment the script is in German. It does offer English as one of the languages the end user can choose.
wondering if this is what mikelee is looking for??

Hi mikelee, in the past I have the same idea as yours. But after searching the net for very long, I still can't find such script to be free. Most of them must pay for the license one. Hope this helps you.

probably u misunderstood.
when it says yahoo is using qmail, it probably meant they are using qmail to deliver mails.
webmail = interface for user to read their mails via http or https instead of the usual email client.

Do you need to run the free webmail service yourself, or do you just want to run it to attract repeated users? Why not outsource it to someone like bigmailbox.com, so that you don't need to worry about running it and keeping it up and reliable - if you want to get users dependent on your mail, you don't want the mail service to suddenly disappear because your power supply blew or the hard disk went bad.

icic... i'm not sure if the thread starter is still visiting around this forum... i was juz curious when i was looking thru the past threads and went to dig out this thread... thanks to every1 who answered my queries...
like tanfwc, i've also tot of creating an email service, say maybe to be catered to my friends and families, but i guess that's too much of a hassle... since it's never going to be easy manning all these...
i guess yap... outsourcing would be the only way, but given that the big 3 giants are having an intense competition, it's kind of hard for smaller email providers to survive nowadays, isn't it so? :D

To your last pg, wrong. I can always set up an email service just for my friends. For your personalised group of friends. Say your group calls themselves joybaby! , you can get a domain and then each of you can have your own personalised email address (bahhhh@joybaby.com) . Why get a yahoo or hotmail? <= embarassing. :D Compete also for what. I'm a personalised provider!

Then just need webmail like horde or squirrelmail. If users need to signup by themselves - then a signup script is needed. I've written one that works with ensim CP so that i dont have to buy hivemail etc...
hi all,
maybe something like this (http://www.promptpost.com) (The PromptPost Project) can serve as an inspiration! :D
i hope i'm getting at the correct direction??
