CF or PHP for webmail?

I needed a webmail for my mail server. Think of customizing squirrel mail to suit my needs. However, heard that cold fusion is extremely fast. Which method do you guys suggest? customizing squirrel mail or developing a webmail using cold fusion?

Are you comfortable and efficient developing in ColdFusion first? If not, you can be stuck months before coming up with your custom webmail product.

php and mysql running on linux or freebsd is quite stable

Don't forget the cost for CFML Hosting is higher than PHP. Besides that, are you sure there is really a significant difference in terms of speed between a CFML & PHP script?
