They are different components of ASP. unlike other scripting language, ASP needs components to support mailing feature. CDONT is the buildt in support for mailing feature for windows with versions before 2003.

While aspmail and aspemail are two very common external mailing components.

The "internal" here meaning it is provided by microsoft. "external" meaning provided by third party. They all support mailing feature but the only diff is in the way you use it. Something like the different btwn msgbox (VB) and MessageBox (VC++). just the syntax is diff.
