Hello, Being a newbie in web publishing, I doubt my subject title is relevent to what I am going to ask. Well, you see, I wanted to have a login section in my website and something to generate password to members. sounds familar? MSN? yeah something like that. Well What the stuff I need to kick off this thing? really appreciate the help guys! :)
Hi,
Are you asking about user auth. method? Like a visitor visit your site... fill up an application then an username/password will be generated and send to this new user/member's email address. Then this member will be able to login the "member's section" of your site... or something similiar... is it what you are asking?
If so, do a search at this url where you can find a few scripts for member/user auth. http://www.hotscripts.com/search/?bool=AND&query=user+auth&category=all
Hope this helps!
Kindest regards,
Choon
P.S. If I get all these wrong... please tell me :(

Choon,
Yeah, You've read my mind. ok, here is what I know about publshing website... Firstly, Do it in the local machine(struggling with dreamweaver MX :? ), follow by uploading everything to the web hosting server, then I also heard that some hosting companies are given free MYSQL to maintain the site, so where does this auth program u shown to me fit into the picture :?: and which one from ur experience u think works better for a newbie like me  ? I think thats about everything I know about web publishing.... heehee.

Hi wilsonw53,
User Auth. doesn't necessary need to be using MySQL depends on your needs. You need a script to do all these not the one you created from your HTML editor program. What you have uploaded to the server is mainly static HTML pages.
Ok... I will provide some links which I search at google.com about "user auth":
Uses MySQL http://www.pscode.com/vb/scripts/ShowCode.asp?txtCodeId=595&lngWId=8
And many others http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=user+auth
Remember... whenever you have a question... do a search at http://google.com as google.com is our good friend ;)
Hope this helps!
Kindest regards,
Choon

Hi,
I suggest you give more information/data you put inside (what's the content on the .htaccess) ,anything is to ask your web hosting provider for help as they should help you if you face problem in this.
Thank You
