View Full Version : Comments/Thrashing of Ads?

I would like to suggest a rule keeping those so called "constructive comments" off the advertising forums, since its not a place to critique on one's ads, as it will affect the sales of the products/services being offered. Just take a look at the advertising forum (example (http://www.sgwebhostingtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2643), example (http://www.sgwebhostingtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2649)) , when someone offers something, others will start to post comments/remarks and in the end, no sales are made. In the long run, no one is going to offer anything since they get nothing but the usual comments/thrashing.

I believe no one would be happy if they are the one offering some products/services and someone just come around with "I can get something similar much cheaper elsewhere", "This domain is only worth $0, and you are selling it at USD$1000?", "This product is not even worth that price", etc,.

i think this is a debatable issue...

coz we come forums to share and get more knowledge, get the best deals. if we want to anyhow buy a product we dont even need to come forums, therefore comments are good.

on the other side, it affects sales. which means companies have to be competitive to survive

Hi alien,

The best way is use the "Report this post" link in whatever thread you feel that whoever is breaking forum rules or you have comments about it... and mods and admins will read about it and make decision...

Just my thoughts :)

Thanks.

Kindest regards,
Choon

Ya... but not in the advertising/request forums... at least to me... that's why I don't post my request or offer here anymore...

alternatively....leave discussion of webhosts in the
"customers on web hosts" section.....

Thanks for your suggestions.

We will be taking note of that.

I brought this up for debate with the management team before.
Sadly, not everyone shares the same view. As an advertising front, the threads should be kept clean and clear of these "kiddie" posts. It simply destroys the purpose of the advertisment forums. I'm suggesting a review of the forum rules for the advertising forums -- members in support please post on this thread. A simple post like

- clean it up

or

- leave it alone

will be sufficient. thanks.

I agreed to clean up the trash too.

The adv forums should only have threads directly related to the ads and not some childish comments or whatsoever.

For me... clean it up... especially with those comments mentioning with other competitors or like comparing offer in an advertiser's thread.

- leave it alone

I believe in this. If you're good enough, no one can beat you with such comments. When i launched my promotions, there's always ******** there backfiring me. However, my sales are all up to expectations.

But well,

clean it up

too. It's not a good practice to bad mouth others, especially in their advertisement thread. Maybe that could be brought out, to other forums in SGWHT.

Maybe can strike a balance:

Questions: allow
Flame: no
Comparison with competitor: no
Un-neccessary chatting: no

Question directly related to the request and /or offer 'can' be allowed but is depends on case-by-case basis.

Irrelavant remarks will be deleted.

OR maybe we can setup a comments thread for each host on the "customers on webhost" forum......

do all the commenting there

clean up the mess. :D

Irrelevant or unnecessary comments should be removed and repeated offenders' account will be suspended. (That's the usual practice in most of the discussion board)

Be cool and professional..
