Marcus .. certainly sounds like you've had your fair share of "nasty customers" ... here's one that I will always remember ... not via email but via the phone ... but I guess its the same isn't it?

Customer calls in and requests to speak to the manager (which by wisdom of change ... Me) ... screams over the phone

"What the hell are you guys doing !!! My company just subscribed with your email hosting service and the service SUCKS ... I'm going to lodge a complain to CASE and SUE you"

Having question him on what I can do to help and what's wrong.

"Aiya .. all of you are the same - all trying to make money money money but YOU ... YOU are the worst of the lot. I damn a refund and I will pursue the matter with CASE ... My boss send me email from US and I got no mail - got scolding from him for something that IS YOUR FAULT - WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS DOING ! Each business transaction that we do is thousands of dollars. CAN YOU AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE LOSSES ? Damn you ... I'm going to report and SUE you !!!!"

The scoldings and rabbling goes on and on for close to 10 minutes - after which the customer tries to catch his breath.

All I can say is ... after all that ... I personally made the trip down to his office, within an hour, to see his computer and find out the was reason for him not receiving emails ... and in the end, it took me 1 click on the mouse to get him his emails !

... Customers ... you CANNOT live without them ... neither can you live with them .... <sigh>

lol .. heya roy, then what he said when you did that??

for me, not really many as my customers are alot more friendly. But i met this.

this customer ask me for a service. i told her what i provided. she picked the most costly one and added alot of value added services. i was delighted. it cost over 900 bucks! she said the amount is big and she only have cash. she met me outside shangri la hotel. i went there and can't see here. she told me she was in a hotel room. i went in, and she was .. arh ..!! it seems like a movie or television drama. drinking wine(red) and wearing very light clothes. she said she's interested in MY service rather than my business service. it's being a pimp! i ran out of the hotel and go to my mama's house and hide in the cupboard for around 12 hours....

that's the worse i think, but INSIDE webhosting, i think this is it.

this customer is doing a jolin tsai fans club webbie. she know nuts abt webhosting but onli used geocities web hosting. she though providing web hosting will have the www.domain.com for her, but she didn't know she had to buy one. she bought one, and fine .. she registered twice wrong domain name and insist that it's my spelling error.

sighzx ..

The problem was the guy was using Outlook Express and somehow, some guy, maybe him, went to disable the CHECK MAIL ON STARTUP feature and the CHECK MAIL EVERY XX MINUTES

He has been doing this all the while, open Outlook Express and whoa .. all his emails are there ... so when for an entire day, he did not receive any new emails, he put the blame on us.

What as the reaction ?
He said something like who was the idoit that disable the thing for him - must have something to do with OUR email hosting coz the last time with their old provider ... everything was okay - only now change to us, then go this type of problem ...

<sigh> ... still denying the problem ...

... I always tell my guys ...
Customers are the ones that pay your salary. Make sure that they are FULLY satisfied with your service before you move off and close the case

but in this instance ... there's no closure, only a earful of words !

Very friendly customer indeed.

You know, imagine if you had an afflinate programme with people that does this.

She says: "Come to me now!! I need your services!"
You: "I apologise for the lapse in service, but I'm afraid I cannot meet your requirements. would you mind if I refer you to xyz instead?"
:evilgrin

joking....

I agree. some clients are quite unreasonable. they dont admit their fault even it clearly shows it is.

Usually, those still insist is the providers fault are usually those who are not technically incline. Sometimes, they may just thought changing host to you mess up their configuration, so pointing finger at you.

Fortunately, most of my clients are reasonable. Mostly appreciate our help and said they have overlook the problems and thanks for our reminder and help.

My favourites back in Webvisions are big customers who make huge noise that gets the entire company standing. Then I come in, take a look at their server(s), and show them how to perform decent configuration, or point out a flaw in the code.

Oh yes I remember some instances from long ago.... icelava would be the cool guy who shuts them up by pointing out gross mistakes  .... remember me? If you do, please drop me a PM... think its time for us to organise a get-together.

Cheers
