If you click ur self ..you will get a warning from google or they will bann you from the program. if you do 2,3 times a day they won't mind , but if you keep clicking on the ads you will get banned. There is no minimum click through rates for adsense. This board can make preety good money from adsense because most of the Hosting companies pays $2-$4 per click and google will give you a good amount of share from it, Say if 50 clicks per day this board can get atleast 100$ per day.
Yes google adsense pays good amount.
but not easy to get in. They need to assure the site has lots of traffic. SGWHT definitely can qualify.
so .. all you guys are in agreement that SGWHT should go Adsense ?
I'm reading up on the topic and I do see the benefits ...
Let me know your thoughts and comments as we value them a great deal here in SGWHT

From https://www.google.com/adsense/faq
You'll receive a portion of the amount paid for clicks on AdWords ads on your website. Although we don't disclose the exact revenue share, our goal is to enable publishers to make as much or more than they could with other advertising networks. We'll send you a check in US dollars for your account balance each month that your earnings amount to $100.

After which, we will need the fullest support of all SGWHT members. Once again, thank you for bringing up a wonderful suggestion. Rest assured that the money made from any venture will be used for the development of SGWHT.

You can do that but i do suggest that you do not use popup as most visitor hate them and may have pop up blocker...

Hmm...How do I do that? Because I don't really want it to replace my website.
Anyway, the new window wun appear unless the user choose to click it.

Yes and worst still most users nowadays uses popup killers, so you might find yourself having fewer impression on these ads.

I don't think it's going to be possible to do it (or at least, not straightforward). It seems that adsense is loaded in an iframe that resides on google's own servers. Perhaps if you had some deviously evil client-side scripting that overloads or messes around with Google's own javascript... But you can bet they won't be happy with that.
However, if you do manage to do it, I don't think you will have too much problems with pop-up blocks since since, as you say, it'll only pop-up when clicked, and most people probably allow windows to pop-up when clicked.
Can you please start a new thread instead of simply replying to an unrelated thread?

One bad thing I found about adsense is that it shows your competitors on your website due to its "clever" content targeting feature. This is extremely bad if you are selling products or services. They have a "URL blocking" feature to let you filter out your competitors but you will never completely filter all. Be cautious on this...
BTW, I don't think there is another SGWHT (direct competitor) around, so having adsense on this forum shouldn't be a problem.

There is always stuff related to webhosting like free stuff, cheap hosting...lol...
I believe you can block your competitors' URL, this will prevent your adsense from showing them.

True, you can block their URL. But it will be difficult to block all your competitors. If you do hosting, can you imagine blocking the URL of every webhost? Clearly impossible...
So judge for yourself whether the amount you get from adsense is enough to cover your losses due to competitors' ads :)
Actually i think if your doing shared hosting at WHT "market-price" level, a few bucks a month for a plan, adsense would probably do more good than harm. You might lose a few customers, but the clicks (if you optimise properly to get hosting ads) would probably earn back much more. Maybe 1 click would be as much as 1 month's payment for your cheapest plan ? :evilgrin
We can see it in a different way. If your main objective of that website is to sell hosting services, you shouldnt put an adsense there in the first place. If you want some ads revenue from that site as well, adsense might not be a right choice, coz all related topics will be your competitors.
If the main objective of your site is to provide information, then adsense is the right choice, as not many ads will how your competitor, even there is, they just helped you to earn more money only. And the content of adsense help to increase your content in a way also.
