Am I right to consider the statements defamatory? I'm going to approach my laywer next week if Hardwarezone doesn't do anything about this matter. Thanks.

Well... actually you shldn't have PM/email him or participated in the thread. This will only create chance for him to quote the mails and express his negative feedbacks.

I've met such flammers before, the #1 rule is ignore, let the thread die. Surely you still have supporters somewhere, just ignore~

If its business/professional practise, I'd seen such threads in WHT. The best way I feel is the webhost reply once to clear up the matter in a COOL manner and apologise if necessary and just ignore everything else which happens later. The thread will eventually die off~

Of course the best way could be to totally ignore. DH and SGdomain also kana suan before, but well they never reply nor do anything about it...

We'll see. I'm not going to reply anymore anyway. Already cleared up my side of the story. Going to check with the laywer whether I have a substantial case or not. :)

Hi HC,

I happened to go thru the threads you posted, have to say, "bad move"

From my business point of view :

What Kray said is very true, you shouldn't have pm him in the first place.
Secondly, I feel you shouldn't have gotten into the dogfight unless on personal ground but it's quite obvious you're speaking as a company.
And lastly, you shouldn't openly threaten to sue. It doesn't reflect good for a business.

Anyway nothing for you to do now, just relax......

Just my thoughts, no offence.

Dear SG.GS,

Defamatory: harmful and often untrue; tending to discredit or malign.

Notice the word ‘untrue’?

Basically, what constitutes defamation?

“Defamation, sometimes called "defamation of character", is spoken or written words that falsely and negatively reflect on a living person's reputation.”Insert URL: http://www.freeadvice.com/ or Free Advice (http://url)

Notice the word ‘falsely’.

“In order to prove defamation, you have to be able to prove that what was said or written about you was false.”Insert URL: http://www.freeadvice.com/ or Free Advice (http://url)

Again, notice the word ‘false’? Are there any defenses to defamation?

“Establishing the truth is the single most effective defense that can be offered. If the remark is truthful and it "hurts", is embarrassing, or subjects you to ridicule, there is little you can do. Unfortunately, unless the remark is false, you have no recourse.”Insert URL: http://www.freeadvice.com/ or Free Advice (http://url)

Hope that the above explanation could help you solve your doubts.

Best regards,
Marcus Lau.
