What is the difference between these 2 types of control panel, or what is the purpose of a CP. Why we need them?

Thanks in advance.

Well, each has its best.

I would say that Plesk is a very good control panel for newbies as it does not use any difficult technical terms and everything is almost as direct. The interface is simple and easy to use and compared to other panels, its security is superb.
What Plesk lacks is its ability to create subdomains.

Ensim has a better interface than Plesk, though no better than Cpanel in terms of GUI. Ensim used not to be so good, but after the release of Ensim Pro, I am in love with Ensim.

I would go for Ensim Pro in this case.

Sorry for this question, what is the purpose of a CP. Why we need them?

It's for easy management of your webhost.
Customer End - Allow you doing configurations and setups like POP3 emails/ subdomains / SQL, in a web based panel and have the real-time effect.

Provider End - Hopefully the panel helps customer who do not know any bit of SSH, thus lessening their work load. Also, lower down the number of shell access given out, indirectly lowering the risk of attacks.

It saves alot of both your time and your client's time.
Some things can be done within clicks.

Ensim Pro is definitely better than Ensim -- or else they wouldn't have bothered to release it to the public and encourage an upgrade.

It depends on one's perspectives in the case of choosing a control panel. Most hosts go for Cpanel because Cpanel is a more likeable control panel by most clients. Cpanel is also a good panel for newbies hostees, esp it's GUI.

I would rank the panels in the following order
1: DirectAdmin (http://directadmin.com) - New Panel
2: Cpanel (http://cpanel.net) - Very likeable
3: Ensim Pro (http://ensim.com) - Good Security
4: Plesk (http://plesk.com) - Poor Interface design

Of course, those are the more famous panels. H-sphere is one more panel which is also commendable, considering it has billing and support system integrated.

I've trialed Ensim, Ensim Pro, Cpanel, H-Sphere, DirectAdmin and Plesk for a very short time (except Cpanel - which I had trialed for more than a year - would I consider it a trial? :D) and finally decided that DirectAdmin would be a good panel in the near future. New kid in the block.

Glenn, since we last spoke on the phone and have settled the deal on ESIM PRO which you offered either Esim Pro or Plesk, and there was a long pause of 1 week still I didn't hear from you.
Finally I wrote to ask you about the deal and you said there were some hicups on your new server last week. So another week have passed and I wrote to you again and you replied that your partner Winson Lau was notified on the deal but up till now I still have not heard from him.
I am beginning to feel that you have not been able to fulfill what you promised.
You gave me reasons like you are concentrating on your part of the job which is co-location, but I would seriously urge you to tie up the loose ends first before you pass my contact to your partner.:(

Jethro: We are able to fulfil our commitment to you.

We have never ever said we could not fulfil our commitment to you. You can ask some of the satisfied customers we have.

We seriously urge you to keep personal remakrs off the forum.

We do not mind if you do criticize our service or anything but a personal comment to a person is not allowed and is a violation I believe.

Junpei: Was that constructive. I believe you should change your tone for sure. I believe that your 424 posts are non-constructive except for a few.

Ok! I think I will let this matter rest. Your partner has just apologised for the delay.
You should have felt the heat coming when you received numerous phone calls from me regarding about the matter, please, a commitment to fullfill is still a commitment to be fullfilled. And once it has taken more than a 3 weeks delay, I think you should call instead of being called.
Moderators please close this thread unless Glenn has something to re-butt.

Sharp: Do your explanations. Don't just tell us something is better without telling us why and how is it better..

Plesk5 - Not able to create subdomains unless to some tedious config to the apache config file or with unlimited license domain..., only webusers, not able to allocate specific space to webuser, however Plesk6 can. Interface is boring only boring buttons with word.
Not buggy though, stable.

Ensim Pro is nice - Able to create subdomains, able to allocate specific space to the subdomain. Nice interface.

CPanel is also nice - Able to create subdomain but not able to allocate specific space. Have alot of different GUI. Have many different preinstall stuff. But seems to have many problems or bugs.

Ensim Pro and CPanel is each has its pro, I feel both better than plesk. IMO, I feel user prefer CPanel/Ensim Pro than Plesk.

hmm..one problem with Ensim Pro is that it lacks the pull power, meaning customers are not attracted to it. You would tend to see more customers requesting for cpanel as a must rather than Ensim as a must.
