I am using Western Union as another payment service.

I have encountered no problems at all.

1 Way to prevent being cheated
Go to http://www.westernunion.com/ to check if the MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number) is vaild.

Then go to the Post office to collect your money. Once Money is collected.. You won't be scared that the person has cheated you :)

How long it takes?? How is the procedure like?

I am sure many members will be interested to find out more about WU.

Procedure:

1) Customer Pays Money
2) Customer tells you the MTCN number and their details
3) Seller Proceeds to post office immediately to collect money (Only Certain Post Offices) Please proceed to www.singpost.com.sg for a full list.
4) Seller Fills Up a Form
5) Transaction Completed :)

** Make sure customer pays to your name. Bring your I/C when you collect money.

Any transaction fee needed? So your customer pays you $50, you get the whole $50? The post office don't make you incure some deductions for processing fee? And monthly minimum like eNets?

Um... those links show that there are no agents in Singapore... But if Singapore post office has info then it's probably an agent, maybe the Western Union website is just not updated.

Your first URL shows "No agent found"

Second URL gave this :

NAME : Western Union Global Network Pte. Ltd.
TELEPHONE NO : 633 62000
HOURS : Mon-Fri 1000-1900, Sat-Sun 0900-1900

Ok, a search on the Yellow Pages came up with this:

http://www.phonebook.com.sg/cgi-bin/DirAppn/Image/spb_process_input_new_engine?EIB&2055103&0&10&newengine@singtel-yp.com&238863;Western+Union+Global+Network+Pte+Ltd+~;A&BG

So the three locations of Western Union agents are in Lucky Plaza, Toa Payoh and Novena Square.

I use western Union very often, (at least twice a month), they will charge me 9 US$ for a 60 dollar transfer, this means that a 51 US$ will be availiable at destination, they have a scale of charges, I think the charge remains the same up to 100 US$.

I have never been conned by them, they have behaved perfect, and they give you a transfer number which you can use to verify the transaction.

Also, you can perform the transfer in real time, with your customer on on e office and you collecting in another country, the time lag is about a minute.
(the time it takes to write the papers).

ive used WesternUnion twice already, my clients from UK use this
to pay me, actually he sends me second payment already,

before you setup his account, you have to asked him first to send the
payment via WU, then email you the MTCN#

onced you have that MTCN#, confirm it thru westernunion website if he really
sent you money.

if WU says "Money not picked up yet" , it means your money is waiting for
your keyboard tortured hands :)

its realtime payment, onced he sent the money, you can receive it.

advantages:
-alternative payment for creditcard
-also for unsupported paypal countries
- lots of agents wordwide

disadvantages:
-high cost fee for sender
-you need to go to the WU agent yourself to claim your money
-bad attendant, sometimes if you should receive USD$89.45, they will just give
you USD$89.00
