Hi!
Due to concern with download speeds, I have set up my website in two separate locations: the USA, and Indonesia. This is due to the nature of my business. Currently a lot of my clients are from Indonesia, and I want them to have fast access to my website, so I set up a hosting there.
However, I also am trying to get businesses in Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. For these I am hosting a mirror site in the US.

So far I'm giving out two separate addresses:
http://www.miketing.com is the indonesian site, and
http://www285.pair.com/tingm/ is the US hosted site.

People are happy, and download times are good.

Now the question is, how can I keep one domain name, but set up a script, so that upon detecting the location of the user, the script would redirect that user to either the Indonesia or US site?

Thanks much in advance.

PS: Feel free to give feedback on the download speed of the two URLs above. The contents are identical, just different locations.

There are various scripts that can allow you to do it. But try this site anyway: http://www.geobytes.com/GeoDirection.htm

got it from google .

thanks..

geobytes apparently routes 1 every 50 queries through their site first.. to pay off the free script they give you.

apparently these scripts route the user based on the IP address.

but how reliable can you pinpoint the country of origin based on IP address? cause if there is a mistake on that part, then the user will be sent to the wrong site, which is a small disaster.

thanks.

You can always cook up your own scripts to redirect the user, you do not have to depends on other provider than yourself.

You should be using mirrors based in HK instead of US.
