View Full Version : Paypal Pending Reversed Transaction
Well this happened to me recently .
One of my customer from Indonesia had order our Advance Plan and he pays by paypal.
However this morning when I check my email, paypal had 'detect' that I may be the recipient of potentially fraudulent funds.
Paypal on their part have initiated an investigation into this event. In the meantime, paypal have placed a pending reversal on the funds in question until the investigation is complete.
Well I had reply paypal with the invoice and informations of the buyer, hopefully I get an answer soon.
Anyone had experienced this before.

Yeah. Always get it when I was in the shell business.
Just as GoDaddy said, a lot of transactions from Indonesia are fraud. You need to be careful when dealing with Indonesia clients. I usually enforce payment by bank transfer the first time, then subsequently they can pay by Paypal since I'm sure they are safe.
The other way is to make sure their email address is paid (ISP) and/or are verified buyers (in the email to paypal you will know).
Got this also, especially users pay by credit card from singapore while the cc is issued by US bank. Normally we will just release the account and monitor closely. At the other hand, send them a mail about the alert detail, and states that account may be suspended any time if confirmed that is a fraud transactions.
Usually the cc owner will reply our mail and explain. So far all transactions go through.
Interesting ...
So far, I've only setup accounts once I receive payment via Paypal, Bank Transfer or Cheque.
Now, looks as if venturing to collecting payments with CC will be a whole new challenge. Perhaps, you guys can provide some feedback on your experiences along the following lines ?
- credit card processor, who are you using ? 2Checkout ? PayPal ? WorldPay ?
- frauds ... are these very high and very common ?
- any other useful information ?
As you can see, I have yet to venture into getting my own merchant account and own CC processing account. So, I would appreciate any information that might warn me of possible risks.
Coming to payments, I have been relatively traditional and "low-tech"...

So for that you've been not able to collect most of the money?
It'll be better as what SG.GS suggested, make the first payment a bank transfer, then subsequent payment using paypal. It's not a bad idea like what roy said, receive the money then start the account. just that it'll be a little inefficient.
I've not received any such frauds from paypal so far (touch wood) so can't really comment. Never really trusted paypal with my hard earned money so I usually cash out my money when I reach a certain amount. So in the event paypal decides to do something funny I won't get burned so bad.
For my other payment processor paysystems though... lots of frauds so far. Some trying to get a server, a reseller plan, etc... Luckily paysystems is quite strict on this issue and therefore will stop any such attempts. :D
I'm using 2checkout and paypal at the moment.
2checkout is OK, but the support can be very slow sometimes... the worst case is my client got confirmation screen from 2checkout, but they actually didnt deduct money from my client's credit card nor has such record in database. Client chasing me for account, and i chasing them for the confirmation..... I submited a few ticket, and only get reply after 3,4 day !!!! imagine....
But 2checkout pay quite on time :-)
Havent transfer my money out of paypal, nothing much also, so most of the time use it for other purpose. If i'm not wrong, they just reduce the rates.

Yes. They just reduced the rates only. It now costs SG$1.00 to transfer money back to your bank account in singapore.

Is that rate permanent pricing or is it just a promotional period?

Paysystems is good for me cause they have this "live chat" feature that I use alot. Better wat to get things answered. So when I'm on there, I just shoot whatever comes to my mind. :)
They've screwed up abit for cancellations. I tried to cancel a customer's billing but it still went through. I know if I issue a refund through them it'll take a while so I just ask my customer if he accepts cheque. :D
Haven't tried they payment. Just did a request for my money. Hope they pay on time.
