Not sure about this, but some web sites may post false information. Be aware of this.

Paypal, well, if you are using their cc service, be careful of chargebacks. they can freeze your account w/o notice/

Just a piece of advice. If you do use it, transfer whatever amount to your bank instead.

It is true PAYPAL freeze account for chargeback case. But ultimately, it will reinstates once the issue has bee resolved.

We don't have this experience but this is exactly happen to my friend on one chargeback incident.

Yap! keep it for small transactions ... and make a point not to leave too much money in there. Transfer out to your bank regularly ... and it should be alright.

However, it seems like we have to validate our Paypal account using a credit card right?

However, if I submit my Credit Card Details to paypal, wouldn't them then be able to charge to my card?!

it depend on whether if you have filed for a transaction. Nothing would happen if you did not file for a transaction

Um, paypal works fine for me. Been using it to pay some auctions and get a bit of money from my auctions too. But not often, like once in long time.

Their fees kinda expensive though, especially must change account status to accept CC. Then charge again to withdrawl to bank.

So far nothing happened... but I use it less than 6 times~

Hmm I'm seriously considering to use Paypal since I have to pay and receive money on the Internet at times.

I'll just use wire transfer so it should be pretty safe, just that they require me to validate by using a Credit Card.. which I am reluctant about.

paypal is actually paying using credit card, that's why they need you to validate your credit card.

But I thought Paypal also allows you to use a bank through wire transfer? As for Singapore banks, they cannot validate you that's why they need a credit card.. but after the validation wouldn't they draw/deposit the money into th eSingapore bank?

So far, my experience with Paypal have been very good. Have not tried a bank transfer from my PayPal account to a local bank account yet ... so I can't comment on that.

But ever since Ebay took over the realms at Paypal - I think the service has improved and the overall outlook for Paypal has changed. Ebay has done a great job in providing PayPal with a more professional outlook.

I would still recommend PayPal ...

they need to verify credit card simply for security reason, to identify you ... you dun have to worry about them making unapproved deductions from your account. it's like you dun really worry about using credit cards in shops even though they keep a copy of your transaction slip rite?

and yes, you collect your money by getting them to transfer to your local bank. Thank God Singapore Bank is advance and "big" enough to make this process relatively painless. Only thing is it takes about 2 weeks (max) usually to see your money.

if this helps ... I was just looking at my transaction history, I have move about US$4K plus through my paypal account, haven't quite loose a cent yet. :)

Yeah I agree. I never used paypal but was abit cautious when I saw sites like paypalwarning.com and other similar sites but I came to realised that using paypal is not only easy to use but very convenient. SO far I have received all my payments, never a delay. But here's a little piece of advice, do not accumulate to much $$ in your paypal account, i usually withdraw about US$1000 at a time. Try to keep you paypal balance as low as possible coz I have seen cases where other people's paypal accout got hacked. As for me, it usually takes about 1week b4 i get my money

i haven't got any money in my paypal at the moment yet so no worries for me. I don't think i will keep more than US$500 in my paypal account for safety reasons.

If they included S$, perhaps more singaporeans would use it right? and the verification isn't the best way because usually those with credit cards wait for their monthly statement rather than actually online. *I again say MOST* not all.
