Why do people use Chillisoft ASP when it doest support MS Access DB ?
Because Win license is too expensive.

the chillisoft ASP, which is only one application on the server, cost about US$495 if you choose the download one or US$545 if you choose the CD one.
Isnt Windows OS more cheaper than the Chillisoft ASP ?
Download (Linux) (US)$495.00
Order CD (Linux) (US)$545.00

Not really... you still have to buy a lot of softwares for Win2K servers to support every kind of scripts. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Next thing, getting a panel for Windows is not easy. Back to the topic, i know most companies which use plesk actually support Chillisoft ASP. Does it comes with PSA ?

Because ASP scripts are typically PHP scripts written in a different language. ASP users are used to it. If you are only generating dynamic content without the need for database and you do ASP only (no PHP knowledge and don't want to learn), a server with ChiliASP will solve your needs. Its a good testing platform also.
When the database comes in, you'll need a full Win2K server. The main cost would be the server OS and panel. There are only a couple of panels that support Windows 2000 and practically all of them are rather expensive. ChilliASP is like offering a cheap alternative for people who want to do ASP minus the database. If they need database for ChilliASP, I believe MySQL is supported.
Regarding control panel, if I'm not mistaken, ChilliASP is simply a plugin for the webserver, similiar to PHP. You don't need to worry whether your control panel supports it.

I was asking if it comes free when you purchase Plesk and not if it's being supported by Plesk. ;)
Anyway, I think MySQL is being supported by Chillisoft ASP.

I don't believe it comes with Plesk. Databases are supported except MS proprietry dbs.

For normal application, you no need to buy a lot of softwares in order to run the scripts, and you wont want to have too many of them inside a server. So basically by having a win2k license, it already covered most of the cost(especially if you want to serve ASP). For PHP, Java, etc, you can get it for free.
Unless you want to run enterprise applications, else you no need to spend extra money for application server like cold fusion, weblogic etc.

But come again, Win2K panels are really very little. However, IMO, if i am using Win2k, i would get myself an Ensim Webppliance.
