View Full Version : Internet Soccer Betting
Not too sure if this is the rite section to seek help.
i intend to set up a biz focusing on Internet Soccer Betting. But being a d@mn S'porean, I am not too sure if laws will be catching up with me eventually.
What I intend to do, is to register a company in the States, using some webhosting services to host my online betting.
Am i liable for S'pore laws? How can i beat these d@mn laws in order for me to set up my online soccer betting?
Cheers

Online betting is supposed to be illegal in the States. Only in certain areas its not I believe. And also on some other countries. You might want to trace a few of the current online betting sites to find out where they are hosted.
Try jamica or something like that.

I supposed that if you are registered in the US, you should not be liable for SG laws, but you might wanna seek legal advice for this instead, becuase it would be much safer. A piece of advice: seek legal advices from two different legal consultants.

You do not really need to pay much for legal fees. I think, in Singapore, there are free legal consultants for you to seek advice upon. I supposed they are those training lawyers. But they will not give you the wrong advice. However, still, do get a second lawyers' opinion.
I don't mind getting some advice about the state of registering companies, business, etc in singapore. Do we have S-corp, C-corp, LLC?? And what's the difference anyway! :D
The internet gambling thing, you might want to mask yourself from the site. Otherwise, the police might just nab you right here in Singapore, never mind where your company/servers are.

Wat is all these S-Corp, C-corp & LLC thingy?
i have tot of masking. But when it comes to registering a company, opening a Bank Account and a Payment account, i believe some form of real identification is still needed.

Precisely, but do bear in mind, the more you earn, the more risks it involves. Basically, i think the only legal betting organisation that has been given permission is Singapore Pools

do remember that besides the legal problems, you need to put how much effort in creating such an established site before ppl willing to bet on your site.

It's never easy to do so, consdering Singapore is such a small country. It's almost virtually impossible. Unless you base yourself in other parts of the country where internet betting is considered legal, lest its good to drop the idea.
ok. may be we should forget about the legal problem first and start brainstorming what need to be done in setting up a soccer betting site?? it seems an interesting topic to me :D
